A modifier is a word/clause that modifies the meaning of other words in a sentence. A modifier is an adjective or an adverb, to be precise. Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs; adjectives modify nouns; and adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.
